Letter to Collectors (FCA prints)

Dear Collector- Although you may already be well aware of the most important considerations in handling and storing gelatin silver photographs, I always like to mention a few points to those purchasing my work, and to answer some frequently asked questions. General guidelines: 1) store or exhibit the photographs in a cool, dry place 2) handle the prints as little as possible 3) use cotton gloves, and both hands, when picking up a print 4) do not place a print in direct sunlight for any extended period 5) do not mount or frame with non-archival adhesive in contact with the prints You have purchased an FCA (Fuji Crystal Archive) gelatin silver print, made with a digital image file projected onto photographic paper. (This is not an inkjet print) The archival properties of this print will rival those of standard fiber prints, if cared for properly; however, please note that the Crystal Archive paper is fragile and will not hold up well to excessive handling. Mounting and framing of these prints should be done in the same manner as any photographic artwork. I make my prints with large border areas to (1) protect the image area from handling damage, and (2) to guard against deterioration of the image area due to natural aging. The notations on the back of the print indicate the title of the image (containing the model's name and my reference i.d. number) and the location and year the image was made. On the front right corner is my signature and the date the print was completed (signing date). Your print may appear slightly darker, lighter or in some way different from other prints you may own or images you’ve seen in books or on the web. These variations are normal between different kinds of media and even between different prints of the same image; however if you are dissatisfied with the appearance of any print, please contact me immediately and I will make arrangements to replace it.
